In Engeland is wijnbouw doorgebroken als een nieuwe mogelijkheid om succesvol te ondernemen. Zelfs de Duke of Windsor investeert in wijnbouw. De groei van de Engelse wijnbouw is opvallend sterk in vergelijking tot België en Nederland. Dit hoewel klimatologische en geologische vergelijkingen heel sterk zijn. Kunnen we spreken van 'het Engelse voorbeeld?'

There are currently 10 members of staff in the Department Team, and the College has invested considerably in an 9.5 hectare vineyard and a purpose-built Wine Centre; which incorporates teaching facilities, laboratories, a commercial winery and a wine sensory evaluation room. A UK wine research centre was built in 2013 in order to develop our post-graduate and research facilities and establish an international reputation in these fields.
De Engelse wijnbouw heeft inmiddels ruimschoots de vrijstellingsgrens voor het invoeren van Europese aanplantrechten overschreden en zou nu zelfs wijngaarden moeten rooien.
